Great "partial event." The heavy rains on Sat. night led to the cancellation of the event on Sunday. Thanks to all who attended! The meal on Sat. night was the best reenactor meal I've ever seen (and eaten). Wonderful!! Thumbs up to the site staff for looking out for us. Hope to see y'all at Ft. Anderson in Feb. - and at Bentonville in March.

OK everybody - this is your chance to participate in a reenactment at Ft. Fisher. I know January can be cold, but you've got clothes.... and we'll have a big campfire. Come down Fri. night if you can - and 2 meals will be provided for the weekend...

Thank you to all who made it down to Ft. Anderson this past weekend. We had a good turnout and nice weather - perfect weather for mid-February. Our infantry programs were very well received by the visitors as well as the site staff. Having the "fry bread eatery" was nice, although we had many soldiers try their hand at cooking in camp. YUMMY! There were steaks everywhere! Thanks also go to Gil Stewart and Greg Oliver (1st/11th NC) and a visiting reenactor, Charlie Jackson, who is with the 28th GA, for assisting us with the program. The lantern walk on Sat. night was great as well. Good job guys.

Thanks to all who came out to our Christmas program on Dec. 6th. We had a good turnout, and I must say that the game of baseball, candle making, and music helped add to our portrayal of soldiers on furlough. As usual, the natural decorations in the kitchen were top-notch, and it was great to see all the spectators making ornaments for the outside tree. A special thanks goes out to Pvt. James for his presentation of the battle flag to one Lt. who was trying to forget about his performance at Ft. Branch. And finally, we want to thank the guys from the 7th NC who fell in with us for the day. We enjoyed having you there! Merry Christmas to all!

Thanks to all who came out! Great weather, and a nice program - artillery, infantry, cavalry, music, blacksmithing - and the MOST SPECTATORS I'VE EVER SEEN AT BENTONVILLE! We also were able to get in a musket certification/safety class for 3 newbies. Looks like we picked up a few new recruits also.

UPDATE.... Stay tuned concerning the Bentonville date. Capt. Harry is going to check with the site staff, and we may need to change back to the Aug. 23rd date. I'm keeping both dates open right now, until that is ironed out.

Yes, according to my calendar, we're scheduled to be at Bentonville on Sept. 6th. Our "old" date was always in August, so maybe the new date wasn't recorded by the folks at the site. I'd plan for 9/6 unless we hear otherwise.

I remember the flashlight holders at that dance. Good thing.... since the generator stopped a few times. I remember hearing one person say that they thought it was cool that the lights went out.... and that they thought we planned it. Still fun. I've got some CDs for sell, and I'll be happy to get one to you - or you can go to our web site huckleberrybrothers.com/ to order one from Marsha Harris.

Thanks, JEB Girl! I also think the music CD is a special one, and that everyone should get a copy soon. Also, thanks for coming to the dance at the event. I heard it said that the dance turned into a "Rock Concert," and I have to agree. Gravel everywhere. (it was also the first time I've seen the lights go out in the middle of a dance) A fun time, nonetheless.

Nope, it was impossible to stay dry. Fri. afternoon and night were nice, but the rains came during the night and Sat. was pretty much rainy all day. We had a nice company/battalion drill though, and the battle was fine.... but the battlefield itself seemed like a swamp. The event was called off Sunday, so we left early. Still, a fun event.... and we'll remember it forever.

It might have been, but don't know for sure. Maybe D. Woods will know.

I agree. It was great to have Charlie talk about how important religion was to the soldiers of the period, and refreshing to see that the writer used that in his article.

YOU GO Charlie! Nice article too. I only wish Charlie's head wound had been shown in the photo..... it was a work of art.

I echo what JEBGirl said. This program should be great - especially the hospital scenario on Sat. night. I remember how nice the program was last time. Rumor has it that Corporal Braswell is coming - and he's bringing some of his freshly dug relics to show us. He dug a block "I" button AND a CSA button near Garysburg last week. See y'all @ Bentonville!
